“I think if you enjoy what you do it’s like playing and you can’t stop,” says Lee, who sounds as sharp, upbeat and charismatic as ever in a recent phone interview. “Most men want to retire at a certain age. ‘I can’t wait to retire so I can golf or travel,’ or whatever it is. But I’m already doing what I want to do. It’s so much fun.”
The good news first, ice baths DO speed up the rate of recovery after a long run, race, etc. by what feels like a good 90%. Before I started taking them, I would be limping around for a few days and had the dreaded side-shuffle down the stairs. Last fall I ran the 60K (37.2 miles) on a Saturday, got home, took an ice bath, got up at 2AM the next day to board a 3AM bus to Philly and was able to cheer my friend on during his marathon.
